Thank you for an impactful year of giving within the Black community!

As the year draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we've undertaken together as a global community united by a common purpose. On behalf of the Support Black Charities team, I am writing to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support and dedication throughout this transformative year. We are profoundly grateful for the positive impact we've collectively made.

Whether through financial contributions, volunteer hours, or advocacy, each one of you has played a role in advancing our mission to empower the Black community worldwide and shine a light on Black philanthropic efforts.

The launch of the Global Black Philanthropy Initiative was our most ambitious project to date and we are excited to see it grow and take shape in the years ahead.

We want to wish you a joyous holiday season ahead, and to all of the organizations working to lift the Black community during this holiday season, your dedication to the community does not go unnoticed.

SBC Events

SAVE THE DATE: "SBC Presents: A Wakanda Experience - A Night of Unity and Empowerment," embodies the Wakandan spirit to unite and empower. It showcases Support Black Charities' commitment to fostering community unity and positive change. By celebrating in the Wakanda theme, the event aims to raise awareness, encourage collaboration, and support SBC's initiatives for uplifting Black communities. This will be a night to strengthen bonds, amplify voices within our communities, and drive impactful change in line with SBC's mission.

GBPI Monthly Focus

Our ongoing work with the Global Black Philanthropy Initiative continues! Thank you to everyone who has participated by donating and spreading the word. We have raised $2070 for Black-led and Black-serving organizations since August 1^st!

During December, we will focus our efforts on SDG#16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions and SDG #17: Partnerships for The Goals. Funds raised during December will help organizations on the SBC directory that align with these SDGs.

Throughout the year we're making a special effort to raise funds for the nonprofit organizations and Black change-makers listed in our directory of over 130 organizations across 21 countries.

Maximizing Year-End Impact: A Strategic Checklist for Nonprofits

The end of the year marks a pivotal time for nonprofit organizations to harness the spirit of giving and propel their missions forward. As the year draws to a close, nonprofits have a unique opportunity to engage donors, celebrate achievements, and strategically plan for the year ahead. To ensure your nonprofit makes the most of this crucial period, we’ve compiled a strategic checklist encompassing seven essential actions tailored to optimize your year-end activities.

The New 3Rs

The New 3Rs, one the Support Black Charities partner organizations, is dedicated to supporting Black-led charities and enhancing the well-being of Black communities. Founded by Dr. M. Starita Boyce Ansari, a Black female educator and philanthropic innovator, The New 3Rs educational programming is designed to educate children and families about the contributions of Black individuals throughout history, with a focus on pre- and post-1619, the Black Holocaust, and the ensuing impact. The program also aims to foster racial justice philanthropy by empowering participants to grant funds to Black-founded organizations driving social change.

The program collaborates with out-of-school time initiatives in the Caribbean, North America, and Africa, delivering its online curriculum to diverse children and families. Partnerships with global entities supporting 6th-10th graders in awarding grants to Black-founded organizations further contribute to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – in particular SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

The impacts of the The New 3Rs manifest in the achievements and testimonials of its students and grantees. Students engage in learning about Black history, culture, and develop critical thinking and leadership skills. Grantees, including organizations such as The Black Girl Project, The Black Male Achievement Network, and The Black Women’s Health Imperative, receive financial and technical support to advance their missions.

Looking ahead to 2024, The New 3Rs plans to launch a Black History animation series targeting Pre-K to 5th-grade educators and home schoolers. The series aims to counter negative stereotypes about Black people among young children, promoting positive self-image and respect for diversity. Created by a team of educators, social workers, and historian Dannie Gore, the program seeks educators and funders for its pilot.

SBC is the only organization dedicated to increasing the visibility of Black-led, Black-serving, and Black-focused organizations worldwide while working to boost charitable giving within the global Black Community. Your support can have a global impact by helping support all Black-focused, Black-led, and/or Black-serving organizations worldwide. We will also provide a tax receipt for all donations.

Here’s how we are fulfilling our mission:

We are continuously engaging with active and impactful organizations to grow our online directory.
We feature organizations, their programs, their events, or their executive/volunteer teams on Social Media to amplify their mission.
We bring attention to and raise awareness of issues or matters specific to the Black experience.
We look for valuable resources for organizations to share on our website’s Resource page. (Ex: grants, funding, courses, etc.)
We actively promote our vetted directory to attract volunteers and potential donors to find Black organizations to support or engage with.
