There is no illusion greater than
fear.
~ Lao Tzu
Of course,
truly horrible things are happening around us and you can't fully ignore them. It's important to know this, and to offer your condolences, your wisdom, your service, wherever possible.
However, coming purely from a place of fear will drag you and those you love into a
downward spiral where you can't help anyone. The bottom of that pit isn't pretty and even the strongest are challenged to rise out of the darkness sometimes. Best to avoid allowing the darkness of fear to rule you.
Do you know that FEAR is the lowest vibration emotion?
Though it's often misunderstood when the words vibration
or energy are used, but fear is a science-based phenomena. Our emotions are what make us human and we typically have a full range of different ones. It is simply that today fear is the main emotional trigger being over-fed to us through our media channels at a speed we can't process properly.
The best way to protect yourself is by raising your vibration.
Here are some tips that I used from experts on how to protect yourself during these scary times and not let
the FEAR rule your life.
Stop doom scrolling. You know what's going on and you are aware. You do not need to obsess over every detail, nor should do this right before going to
sleep. Your sleep is meant to restore you to tackle a new day with hope and strength. A night of bad dreams won't provide that. Limit your time with reading the news and scrolling through your social media feds to get the latest. Use a timer and be diligent.
Reframe in a positive light. Anything can to have a positive spin on it. This may be weird at first and even feel a bit false but there is
always a silver lining to every story. Find it. Finding the silver lining allows you to regain perspective. Of course, sometimes it's a long shot to find this especially when it's a horrific situation, but I challenge you to find it. You can. With this perspective, it is often offers new ways to offer help, support or assistance to those in need.
Stop Trash Talking to Yourself. We all do this and it's become very natural but I suggest you strive to catch yourself
talking badly to yourself. The media makes us all want to be more, be better, be skinner, younger, prettier. It also makes us feel guilty for things happening outside our control. Guilt is also a low vibration emotion which stops positive action from taking place. Awareness is the first step. If you find yourself saying things to yourself that you wouldn't say to your bestie, then reframe it and be nicer to you. Your future self will thank you.
Take Small Consistent Action. Wherever you can.
Start with yourself, your home, your community. Postive steps will build confidence and momentum. It does not mean you have to save the world, or donate your first born to the cause. It simply means that find something you can do to move forward. In any area that matters to you. This builds self trust and then you will stop listening to the fears as much as you were. They are there, but just not having such control.
Never trust your fears, they don't know your strengths.
