Autumn whispered to the wind;
"I fall, but I always rise again."
November is a cool month, a month of quiet patience and lack of color. It is the moment after the brightness of autumn and before the coldness of winter. The fresh blossom of spring and the blazing sunshine of the summer are but distant memories. It is in this space, the quietness of this moment, that all my gratitude bubbles to the surface again.
This has been a challenging year. On so many levels and for everyone. Making our environment as safe, supportive and secure as possible is my life's work and my deepest passion. I have been one of the lucky ones. My work is able to HELP people during this challenging time. For this, I am deeply grateful.
What are you grateful for?
The Earth lies tacitly beneath,
As it were dead to joy or pain:
It does not move, it does not breathe...
And all my heart is patient too,
I wait till it shall wake again;
The songs of spring shall sound anew,
Though sadly falls the autumn rain.
~Celia Laighton Thaxter (1835–1894), "November," c.1871
