In The House of Broughton
Despite unusually mild weather so far in Texas for this time of year, the summer schedule has been sizzling around the Broughton house. First off, I had the chance to spend a weekend fishing in Alaska with my father-in-law and some friends. We brought back a total of 394
lbs of fish filets including halibut, rock fish and salmon. Since there were four of us, all of that beautiful fish was split four ways. That means I currently have nearly 100 lbs of frozen fish in my freezer. Can you guess what's for dinner tonight?
Most years we watch fireworks from the Target parking lot on the 4th of July. This year we took it up a notch and celebrated Independence Day in San Antonio at our favorite family resort. The kids swam in the pool from the moment they left the buffet in the morning until
it was time to get back in line for more food at dinner and then collapsed into bed. We enjoyed a view of the neighboring cities' fireworks from the balcony of the hotel room. I also got to spend some quality time with my smoker making pulled pork the weekend before. It worked great and there were no leftovers.
Finally, my son, Beckett, turned 3 years old on the 14th. I can't believe it has been three years with this guy. He, Ellery and Paige add joy to our life every day and we love watching them explore the world. That includes the plethora of bugs, snakes
and other creepy crawlies that Texas provides. That's all from the House of Broughton this month.
