The present they really want!

Nita Sweeney

Dear :

What's the present they really want?

You.

Yes, the kids want toys and batteries for the toys, but they also want YOU! They want you to listen and play and just be with them.

That's what the grownups want too.

And guess who else wants (and needs) you?

YOU!

Please spend some time with yourself. Take a deep breath. Notice your feet. Eat a vegetable. Go for a walk. Pet the dog. Play with the cat. Drink some water. Read. Take your meds. Take a nap.

You're worth it!

And tell the dog and cat I said "Hi."

THANK YOU GREATER COLUMBUS ARTS COUNCIL!

A huge, grateful, joyous shout out to the Greater Columbus Arts Council.

They awarded me a grant that will allow me to study in person with my long-time teacher Natalie Goldberg again. We've stayed in touch, but I haven't attended one of her retreats since 2007. I'm going in February as part of the work on my next book. The GCAC grant will cover part of the tuition.

If you are an artist, don't overlook local grants. My author friend Matt Betts suggested it and I can't thank him or GCAC enough.
