The Sacred Cow!
"Give us day by day
our daily bread."
Luke
11: 3
When the Sydney Missionary and Bible College in Australia was
preparing for its centennial anniversary, the staff
researched the
beginnings of the school. In 1916, missionary Benson Barnett
returned from his ministry with China Inland Mission, longing
to train Australian young people for missionary service.
He started the school in a large house in Croydon, but students
had little to eat, which was a matter of great prayer. One day as
Barnett stood at the train station, a man came up to him and
asked if he wanted a cow. Barnett accepted, and from that
point on, the students had milk, butter, and cheese.
The Lord may not send you a cow. He knows how
to provide daily bread. When we trust God for daily
provisions, it teaches us to depend on Him and His
faithfulness to us.
He knows how to give us daily bread, daily strength,
daily encouragement, daily opportunities, and daily
fellowship with
Himself and others.
Trust His provision and be sure
to thank Him for the milk of His
kindness.
"All of us are grateful for the blessings of God,
but expressing them verbally, not only blesses the
great heart of God, but blesses our hearts, too."
John R. Bisagno
