Peace And Gratitude!
"And let the peace of God rule in your
hearts, to which also you were called
in one body; and be thankful."
Colossians 3: 15
Microscopes and
telescopes help us focus on one
thing, a cell or a star. The idea of focusing reminds
us that the human brain can only be
occupied with
one thought or subject at a time.
As much as we like to think we're
multitasking, we’re just switching
quickly between different tasks or
thoughts.
When we focus on a problem in life, we exclude all else,
especially solutions or the things that are not a problem.
That must be the reasons Paul wrote to, “Be anxious for
nothing” (Philippians 4:6). And he wrote Colossians 3:15,
“Let the peace of God rule in your hearts.”
When we're anxious about problems, we aren't thankful
for good things around us; we don’t see them when we
focus only on the problems. But when we are at peace,
we can be thankful for all of God’s blessings and gifts,
and the solution He can provide to the problems we're
facing.
Instead of being anxious today,
focusing only on a problem, be
at peace. Look around and focus
with thanksgiving on all of God’s
good gifts.
"God’s giving deserves
our
thanksgiving."
