God Quiets The Storm!
"He calms the storm, so that its waves
are still. Then they are glad because
they are quiet; so He guides them to
their desired haven."
Psalm 107: 29-30
According to the U. S. Geological
Survey, about 96.5 percent of the
earth’s water is in the oceans.
In biblical days, sailing on the saltwater
bodies, like the Mediterranean Sea, or
the freshwater bodies, like the Sea of
Galilee, presented all dangers. Storms
could be violent, and ships of the day
were vulnerable.
It is no surprise that Psalm 107, one of the
four
categories of troubles mentioned was storms at
sea (verses 23-32). The response of the
psalmist
is one we can copy for any kind of storm in which
we find ourselves: “Then they cry out to
the Lord
in their trouble, and He brings them out of their
distresses” (verse 28).
When Jesus and His disciples were swept up
in a storm on the Sea of
Galilee, the disciples
cried out, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
(Matthew 8:25) And He
did.
Whatever kind of storm you're in,
let your first action be to ask the
Lord to quiet the storm—and to
quiet you in the storm.
"God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform. He plants
His footsteps in the sea, and rides
upon the storm."
William Cowper
