How We Serve!
"Everyone must submit to governing
authorities.
For all authority comes from God, and those in
positions of authority have been placed
there
by God."
Romans 13: 1
Gaetan Roy is an evangelical leader who rubs
shoulders with some of the world’s powerful
people. He has one question for each
leader
he meets: “How can I serve you?”
Currently Roy is the
representative
from the World Evangelical Alliance
to the United Nations.
Roy's duties are promoting peace in war-torn
regions and working issues
involving human
rights and religious persecution. He believes
servanthood is his Christlike tool.
Few world or national leaders are Christians,
either were they in the
days of Peter and Paul.
As Paul said, “Let every soul be subject to the
governing authorities” (Romans 13:1). As
Peter
said, “Honor all people. Love the brotherhood.
Fear God. Honor the king” (1 Peter
2:17).
At some point in time, most of us encounter
a leader we do not agree with. By honoring
and respecting them, we honor God. When
your path comes near to a leader, ask,
“How can I serve you?”
"Let us obey authorities to live independent
lives in which we owe nothing
but to love
others. And let us honour God by
honouring his created order."
