Seek And Find!
"For the Son of Man has come
to
seek and to save that which
was lost."
Luke 19: 10
Nick Carter, born in Kentucky in
1900, became
famous for finding lost people, more than 650 lost
or escaped individuals. Although American, Nick
was known
in French as le chien de Saint-Hubert,
now referred to in America as a bloodhound.
Nick Carter was not a detective or private
investigator; he was a member of the most
famous “seeking” dog breeds in the world.
Bloodhounds seek by instinct.
Once they catch
the scent of their lost quarry, they have one goal:
seek and to find that which is lost. These words
remind us of Jesus’ stated mission: to seek and
to save that which was lost.
Beginning in the Garden of Eden,
when God
sought Adam and Eve, God has sought those
He created to restore fellowship with them. It
is a good thing God seeks us, as Scripture
says, “There is none who seeks after God”
(Romans 3:11).
If you know God today, it is because God
sought you, found you, and saved you. Thank
Him today for His relentless pursuit of you.
"Jesus reveals a God
who comes in search
of
us."
Philip Yancey
