Well that was fun while it lasted.... We knew they would not go away that easily, but still, it's important to celebrate!
The Research Corporation of the University of Hawai'i (RCUH) withdrew its Use Determination Application for the giant drones on October 4.
Now project officials plan to submit a new application, a Special Use Permit application, to the state Land Use Commission.
The bad news is, they have not given up. The good news is, 5G is still off the table - a sustained victory for us!
More good news is, they will be doing an Environmental Assessment for the new proposed application. Yay!
Even more good news is that the Land Use Commission has the authority to impose an array restrictions. We hope they will!
