FEATURED INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY #1: The Opportunity: $1M left in $1.5M SAFE for WealthMore to Make Expert Financial Advice Accessible to Fuel Financial Equity (Black, Women-Led) Details: WealthMore is closing their $1.5M SAFE in August, investors include Ben Franklin Technology Partners and APEX Fintech Solutions. The black female-led, Philadelphia-based company is led by former Wall Street executive, Mical Jeanlys-White, who previously led B2C marketing efforts with JP Morgan, American Express, and Nestle. WealthMore is an investing and financial planning platform and community, leveraging generative AI to make expert financial advice accessible. WealthMore AI is also a scoring platform poised to disrupt the $4B credit score market, with two patents pending.
The company goes live in August, has strategic partnerships in place, a growing waitlist of over 4,000, and positive indicators of product market fit. They are raising $1.5M to get to ~$1.3M ARR by Q4 2024. In 12-18 months, they expect to increase the valuation from $10MM to $20MM. Terms of the SAFE are $10M cap, and 20% discount. FEATURED INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY #2: The Opportunity: SHIFT Capital is Raising $2.4M to Advance the Future of Education Through Restorative Development in Kensington Details: SHIFT Capital and Voyage Investments (A Latino-owned real estate firm, part of Shift's NextGen platform) present an opportunity to invest in El Centro de Estudiantes Big Picture Philadelphia School (El Centro), an adaptive re-use of a formerly vacant warehouse located in the heart of Kensington at 3360 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia. El Centro, a School District partner school, has signed a 10 year lease to relocate to this two-story building to improve the job readiness skills and provide workforce training for their students. The school is a critical pathway to graduation for students that need a
non-traditional route. The creative conversion from a vacant warehouse to an accredited school in an underinvested area of the city struggling with the opioid crisis, drastically improves the building’s use while generating long-standing impact and delivering risk-adjusted returns. The $2.4M investment request will go along the sponsors' equity to date and provide investors with an 10.7% LP IRR and 2.22x equity multiple over a 10-year hold. For further information and investment inquiries,
view this opportunity in OptImpact or contact Brian Murray, Partner & CEO. Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

FEATURED READING Innovation, Policy, and Nonprofits Creating Impact for Returning Citizens Details: The US Criminal Justice System directly impacts 6.6 million
people costing more than $80 billion annually. Racial disparities, extractive business practices, and misaligned incentives mar this profoundly broken system. More than 4,000 corporations profit from mass incarceration through predatory pricing, prison labor, and the private prison industry, according to research conducted by the Prison Policy Initiative. But the opportunity exists to find highly innovative private sector business models that address the injustices of mass
incarceration, poised for the ethical disruption of the Criminal Justice System. Read ImpactPHL Perspectives, Volume 67. |
