I just cashed in a bunch of rebates, and I finally got to buy the outdoor nativity set I've been wanting for years. (It comes tomorrow!)
I don't even have to feel guilty for buying something frivolous because it was all money I earned while shopping. I love earning spending money without having to work for it!
How to stretch your budget with shopping apps
Christmas shopping can make a big dent in the pocket book, so why not take advantage of all that holiday spending and earn a little extra cash while you're at it? Did you know that there are online programs and smartphone apps that give rebates for shopping? Mind blown.
You shop at the same places you usually shop, and you earn extra money while you do it!
I just updated my post: The Smarter Way to Shop, with my favorite ways to save and earn money while shopping. I'm excited to pass my frugal ideas to you.
Here's a preview of the programs you'll find in my post:
- Ibotta - Grocery and household deals. Before you shop, open the app to check for deals on products on your grocery list. Add the deals to your shopping list, and head to the store.. When you get back from shopping, scan your receipt and watch your cash add up.
- Fetch Rewards - This is the easiest app of them all. All you have to do is take a picture of your receipt inside the app, and you instantly earn points. (I always use my points to get Amazon gift cards.) Please use my referral code EF4ET to earn 2000 bonus points
when you sign up.
- Walmart Grocery Pickup - Shopping with a grocery list can help you stay on budget, but you still might slip when you are tempted to buy what you don't need as you wander the store. When you choose to shop your favorite store online using the pickup option, you get the added bonus of no temptation to buy extra stuff.
- Ebates/Rakuten - If you're already shopping online, you might as well earn a rebate. Start your shopping trip on the Rakuten website, then link to your favorite stores to earn cashback.
Will you earn enough money to buy a new car with these programs? Probably not. Will it earn you enough money for an extra date night or a little frivolous shopping once in a while? Definitely.
Happy shopping! I hope these ideas save you lots of money!
