We are headed right into the spring holiday season! How are you going to celebrate Palm Sunday with your family while at home?
I want to share 4 ways to add more significance and fun to your celebration this year while we are all under "Stay at Home Orders".
This is definitely a season none of us planned. In fact my family was going to have a wonderful reunion of 4 generations. We had the food planned, games, prizes and also pictures - everything planned. And then COVID changed it all!
Well, We can see this as disappointment or a blessing.
Let me share with you some tips on making this first part of the celebration - Palm Sunday a blessing.
I just released a video on the origin of the words Palm Sunday. Are the words Palm Sunday in the Bible?
I prefer to call it Celebration of the Triumphant Entry; 4 Ways to add Significance and fun to Triumphant Entry Celebration
1. Read the connecting verses. 📖
Start with Zechariah 9:9 to discover the words the Jewish people knew to celebrate a King! These verses describe how the king would arrive riding on a colt, the offspring of a donkey.
Teaching our kids to connect the Old and New Testament will help them see the Truth of the Savior. No college professor can discredit or stump a student when they learn the connection.
Psalm 118:25-26 This specific festival was a reminder of God's faithfulness in the wilderness and also God's soon promise for the Messiah to come.
During Feast of Tabernacles they would declare these verses!
Then move into the Gospels and with your family read from each one.
Matthew 21:8 Most of the crowd spread their coats in the road, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them in the road.
Then what I feel is the very best scripture of all is in Revelation 7:9
And I looked and there was a great multitude which no one could
count, (doesn't' that just tickle your toes to hear how many of us will
be in heaven shouting Hosanna!) from all nations and tribes and
people and tongues, standing before the throne and before the
Lamb, clothes with white robes, with palm branches in their hands.
2. Grab branches from your trees 🍃 - Here is another video I did to share this. Don't worry about having palm branches. I checked with local florists and they are not getting any shipments for this Easter season. Any branch will do!
3. Reenact the story. When we use all our senses - feel, touch, see, and taste the memory last longer. In other words, our kids and probably us will remember this Stay At Home year as the year we reenacted out the Triumphant Entry!
4. Rejoice - Jesus fulfilling the prophecy of His coming and being our personal King and someday we will be in heaven rejoicing with him! ✝️
