Hi
Happy Saturday! I am sitting down for the first time all week. It has been crazy busy keeping up with everyone's desire to be healthy! And as you know this is more about coming closer to the Lord than it is food. We welcome the 2500 new people to our family since I last emailed you!
Yet - I am always ready for a fun celebration and this year we are doing it!
Have you heard of Shavuot? Perhaps you have heard of Pentecost!
When I was growing up we never discussed Pentecost because that was about tongues and no one wanted to touch that subject in the Baptist church.
What I did not know and every Sunday School teacher I ever had did not know is this is one of the most joyous celebrations ever! It is one of the three Feasts the Jewish males had to travel to Jerusalem for! That means God has an appointment waiting!
And 10 days after Jesus ascended he sent a gift - the gift of the Holy Spirit!
You and I depend on the Holy Spirit daily! So why wouldn't you want to celebrate this commemorative day!
Did you also know it was a reminder of the day when Moses received the 10 Commandments on Mt. Sinai! Another reason to celebrate! 🎈
And it marks the remembrance of the story of Ruth and Boaz - another landmark in our Biblical heritage. God used a non-Jewish woman to be the great grandmother of King David!
Here is a video I released yesterday on WHY we should celebrate Shavuot!
