The biblical health plan makes this
possible.
It happens when we develop new habits and keep them.
One of those habits is – eating the healing foods found in Scripture.
Many people have an anything goes attitude when it comes to food. It is a sidetrack from what is possible. And this deviation impacts health and
wellness in a big way.
Consider what Hebrews 3:9 says:
“Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace not by foods through which those who were thus occupied were not
benefited.”
The writer of Hebrews is telling us that it is good to get strengthened by grace, not by
food.
In other words, grace comforts and upholds us: not
food.
But, cravings for sweets has carried us to the bakery … hurriedness to the fast food counters … and emotions to the buffet.
Wants have turned into addictions and so many are now paying the price with their health.
It's true that when we turn to food for comfort, we gravitate toward foods that tend to be addictive. Foods like sugary sweets, fast food, comfort foods, junk food,
etc.
Whole generations have now become food addicts.
Let’s turn to Scripture. Only there will we find the answers we need.
This verse in Isaiah is one of my favorites. I quote it when I am in a struggle both mentally and physically. Sometimes I even say it in traffic for God to move that car in front of
me. Isaiah 57:14
“...‘Build up, build up, prepare the way, remove every obstruction from my people’s way.’”
Unhealthy foods are an obstruction! So are food addictions.
And when they are set aside (or removed), we find our way back to health clear.
How do we do that? It starts by discovering the appropriate foods God made for us to eat.
And also turning over our cravings and the urge to eat for comfort to God, letting His peace rule in our hearts. (Colossians 3:15)
As we learn to do this, we begin to see transformation happen in our lives:
- No more harmful addictions
- less emotional eating
- weight loss
- closer communion with God
- freedom from gluttony
- improved health
- and so much more.
And this is how a Biblical health plan starts transforming your life.
