Emotions! should you medicate them or is it possible there is another reason for them to surface?
Throughout the Bible we read that God has emotions. We see in John 11:35 “Jesus wept”. So we know we have a God that understands and sympathizes with our emotions.
However, what do we do when those emotions get out of balance?
Is it just
normal emotions or is it depression?
Depression symptoms normally include persistently feeling:
• Sad, hopelessness, worthlessness
• Feelings of irritability, frustration, anxiousness
• Loss of interest or pleasure in hobbies and activities
• Decreased energy, fatigue, sleep problems
• Difficulty concentrating, remembering, or deciding
• Weight issues
physical problems that don’t have a clear physical cause and do not go away
with treatment
If you have been struggling with these above symptoms for a while, then you most likely are looking for a resolution. You may be at a place in life that you are on medications, or considering medication for these feelings.
Consider This FIRST:
1. Is there a resolution without medication?
2. Could medication make things worse?
3. Does
my health and nutrition contribute to these emotions?
The good news…..I have answers for you!
I recently had an interview with Dr. Jae Hitson about “6 things you should know before starting antidepressant medication.” We discussed possible alternatives and also what we can do to feel our best.
We must remember 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound
mind.” God doesn’t want us to struggle with depression and anxiety, even more than we want it for ourselves!
