What is Purim?
Purim is a biblical holiday that celebrates the events described in the Book of Esther, where Queen Esther and her cousin Mordecai stopped a plot by Haman, an advisor to the Persian king, to exterminate the
Jewish population of Persia.
Purim celebrates the deliverance of the God's chosen people from this threat of annihilation. It's celebrated with feasting, giving gifts to friends and the needy, and reading the Book of Esther, which tells the full story of Purim.
In Esther 9:20-22 the celebration originated.
Today, with the war in Israel, we need this reminder of how God works, so we can
encourage our children to fast and pray for Israel.
Why celebrate Purim?
Do you want your children to know how God works? Then it’s time we celebrate the biblical holiday of
Purim!
Two fantastic reasons to celebrate this feast:
- To teach our children to care for others.
- To bless friends, family, and strangers.
Also, every biblical event is a chance to remind our children how to:
- seek the Lord
- fast and pray
- wait on the Lord for his direction
Here in this blog I share Why Christians should celebrate Purim. Some reasons may surprise you!
Additionally, you can sign up for the Celebrate
Jesus course! I put this course together and offer it free, so you can learn the biblical significance of these events.
