Hi ,
We're about to shift into February. Was your January extra busy like mine?
So, an update: at the end of last year, I turned 50. And
while 50 is just a number, all last year I had been reflecting and noticing:
- What is working for me in my life?
- What is not?
- What is missing?
- What would I like to change?
(These are good questions for you to consider too!)
And what came up for me over and over is that I would like more ease and simplicity, to go slower, do less—and enjoy more.
And this led to a painful decision: to sell our 5 acre rural property and move somewhere more walkable—with a little more excitement.
It's a decision that has been building for a while, but it still took my husband and I by
surprise! We didn't want to see it... We love the home we've created here, the nature, peace and quiet. But we no longer love managing it all.
Of course there are a number of other factors including access to healthcare for us and our
puppy (there's no emergency vet here), being closer to my aging parents, not having to deal with an increasingly unreliable ferry service and more...
So now we are moving. But I don't know where to yet! Our house is sold, our stuff going into storage,
and wow—no home! The housing market has been so volatile and strange and our sale had such a short closing date that we haven't found a new home yet. We'll be staying with friends for now, and then, who knows?
Which means I'm aligned with the Chinese
Year of the Rabbit (see last week's email): focus, opportunities, adventure and gentle determination 😁
And I'm telling you all this because... Well, you may notice that for the next few weeks I'll be sharing more articles from our archives than
usual. It will all be helpful, relevant, and may perhaps be 'new to you' anyway...
So, as we wrap-up, I find myself wondering, what challenges do you have this year? What changes are happening in your life (both 'good' and
'bad')?
And what would you like help with? Tools? Articles? Support? Inspirations?
Reply and let me know what's going on with you, and how we can help!
Love Emma-Louise
