How are you doing? Are you working on any of your life, business or career goals over the (summer) holidays?
I'm excited to share
that I'm working on a "How to be Kind to Yourself" eBook (and workbook). It's taking shape nicely and it'll be part of a larger Fierce Kindness Toolkit I'm working on (and you'll be able to get your copy as part of a Gratitude Giveaway in September)!
But it's ironic that I'm working on a self-care workbook and that I am also needing to refocus on my own self-care. I keep ending my workday with a full and foggy brain, with no energy to unpack or paint at our new house. I get to the end of the day and don't want to DO anything at all!
Which isn't actually such a bad thing... And reminded me of a fun quote from Winnie the Pooh:
"What I like doing best is Nothing."
"How do you do Nothing," asked Pooh after he had wondered for a long time.
"Well, it's when people call out at you just as you're going off to do it, 'What are you going to do, Christopher Robin?' and you say, 'Oh, Nothing,' and then you go and do it. ... "
Oh!" said Pooh."
A.A. Milne
This charming quote always makes me smile.
This is the kind of doing nothing where we go for a walk for no reason, sit and stare out of the coffee shop window or grab a cup of tea at home, sit down in our
favourite chair and settle in.
We could all do with more doing nothing. Puttering in the yard, staring at the ocean, bathing ourselves in nature in the forest, watching the world go by...
It's in these moments that we find ourselves, that we reconnect—and remember who we are.
We live in a society that values productivity & production: more is better. And yet our best ideas, our happiest moments are often when we're doing absolutely nothing at all. Doing nothing breeds creativity, helps us figure out our place in the world—and if we're lucky we get a taste of precious inner peace. So I encourage you to try some intentional doing nothing this week!
