Hi ,
As the COVID-19 crisis continues, we're all getting used to a "new normal".
One of the hardest things to deal with is the uncertainty: When will this end? What will they want us to do/not do next? What will this mean for me/all the people without work or customers?
While pondering what to write this week, I remembered a favourite 'thinker' of mine, Dr Karl Albrecht, identified 5 Types of Fears. Powerlessness or "Loss of Autonomy" is one of those 5 fears, described as "the fear of being immobilized, paralyzed, restricted, enveloped, overwhelmed, entrapped,
imprisoned, smothered, or otherwise controlled by circumstances beyond our control."
So this fear specifically includes the feeling of being restricted or controlled as well as being physically restrained. This means it would also include situations like enforced isolation...
And one of the best things to do when we we've lost our autonomy or feel disempowered is take action! Any time we do something, we feel better (which might explain the flurry of bathroom tissue purchases!)
So, I'm going to be sharing a number of things we can "do" over the next little while. Stuck at home, this is a great opportunity for us all to get smarter, wiser - and happier!
I'm starting with a list of great non-fiction books to read - on topics from building confidence to building wealth, from the importance of sleep to how to have difficult conversations and more...
[Yes. The Fierce Kindness blog page is finally live! I have a LOT of writing ahead of me and I can't wait! 😊]
For now, I thought we could share the books we're reading, what we've learned, get inspiration and more. I'd love for you to join!

And in the meantime, take care of yourself and stay safe. See you next week!
