I can’t go a week without saying enough about my students and the trust they show in me. Nothing really out of the ordinary this week, just that they are open and trusting. I am very blessed.
Just now, got a note from one of my student athletes in pre-calc. “Got a 95 on my test! Thanx for your help.”
Usually I try to mention something I did for fun this week. Well in a sordid kind of way, it was a ton of fun #not to have BOTH of the orange lights light up at basically the same time on my car dashboard; tire pressure and check engine light.
Got new tires. Now I am learning the intricacies of a cylinder misfire; inconsistent, seemingly minor, narrow scenarios for which it occurs and well “my guy” gives it a crack in the morning. Stay tuned! (And, problems solved. My car guy is awesome. New set of plugs and a coil pack for the affected cylinder.
Moving and My Ideal Job
I am frankly no closer to a decision on that. There are so many areas of the country that I would like to experience. A good friend suggested that I take a different approach. Find the families with money and are willing to invest in their children’s education or more interesting, families with money that like to travel and want to keep their kids on track.
Sometimes I don’t value my value. There is nothing egotistical about knowing one’s worth and requiring commensurate compensation.
Here is my ideal job. From my days at the University of Dayton, my FAVORITE and most FUN times were living on and near campus during the summer. If you have not done that, it is possible you can’t relate. If you have you know exactly what I mean. It was those relationships that have meant the most to me that I have kept to some degree, even to this day.
I would love to “be” on campus again. Maybe I have to augment my existing master’s degree. I would love however to be a “de facto” engineering/math tutor/TA for undergrad and grad coursework in these areas.
Phoenix Housing Market Feeding Frenzy
I lived in Orange County, California in the mid to late 1980s. New homes were selling without ever being able to see a model. Now I am in Phoenix. Read the following. I went through this in LA. I am not likely to do it again.
