Hello
Love,
A dream of mine that I’ve had for the last four years is finally coming true.
This weekend, I’m fulfilling a long standing dream of gathering like minded women in community, nature, music, dance, and laughter
in my very first backcountry campout.
I’ve always loved bringing people together, whether that be in dances, retreats, or relationships. I’ve had this vision in my heart since before Covid, and was ready to launch it in early March 2020. We all know what happened next…
And while I could have made this happen in these last two years, I didn’t see how to bring it to life the way I wanted it.
My vision was BIG - I wanted to rent out a glamping venue, include teachers and facilitators in movement, personal development and so much more. I wanted
catered meals, shuttles from the airport, day trips etc.
But the discomfort of sitting on the dream, waiting for all the pieces to align perfectly, became more painful than taking steps to create it, albeit “imperfectly.”
So this summer, I got to work. Within a week I had over 60 women from my friend circle interested in joining me!
The event is coming up this weekend, and does it look like the vision I have in my heart?
Not entirely!
⛺️ We are camping without facilities, not glamping.
🧘 There’s almost no organized offerings.
🚐 There’s no catering, and certainly no shuttles from the airport.
👩👩👧👧 The mighty group of 60 interested parties has whittled down to 4 committed participants.
At the same time, am I confident that I am moving towards what I deeply desire?
HECK YEAH!
Are there wonderful opportunities and things to learn from this iteration of the Bexperience?
HECK YEAH!
🔥 Dispersed camping offers us an opportunity to be closer to the earth, and more remote from outsiders.
🔥 Spacious time allows participants to get what they need from the event, not what I think they might want.
🔥 Catering and shuttles from the airport are nice
to have, but adventurous women aren’t bothered by efforting.
🔥 And five people (me included) is still a group, and the event will be meaningful to the women who made the commitment.
The reason why I’m sharing this with you today is because too often we
sit on our dreams, or delay taking steps because we desire the outcome to be “perfect.” It’s hard to accept anything “less than” our full vision of desire.
In dating, this looks like:
❌
Overscreening and turning down dates based on assumptions
❌ Breaking up with someone at the first sign of conflict
❌ Opting out of dating all together because it’s too overwhelming
❌ And more
At the same time, every effort, every step, everything we create towards making that vision a reality COUNTS, because that’s exactly what it takes TO bring your vision a reality.
I say this all the time to myself, my clients and to you: Love is
a Practice.
So, are you practicing???
