The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles rejected more than 3,000 personalized license plates between January and November of 2023.

Since last November, more than 3,000 personalized license plates, including "H0EZ," "DAYUMMN" and "PHCKIT," were rejected by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles in 2023.
A list obtained by Hearst showed 3,095 denied plates between January and November of last year. Data for December has not yet been made available. The total number of denied applications shown in the 2023 data was significantly fewer than the 5,000 rejected plates data in 2022.

June had the highest number of denials issued for personalized license plates at 345, which included attempts such as, "PPOOPOO," "NOHOEZ," "BADAASS," "TORTUR," "IM LITTY," "SLAAAAY" and more. The lowest number was in January ending with a total of 219 declined license plates.
According to the state motor vehicles department, Texas can decline license plates for several reasons:
- The alphanumeric pattern conflicts with the department’s current or proposed regular license plate
numbering system. - The alphanumeric pattern contains indecent, vulgar and derogatory deciphered language.
- The alphanumeric pattern directly or indirectly contains negative instructions or commands.
- The alphanumeric pattern directly or indirectly references gangs, illegal activities, implied threats of harm or expressions.
- The alphanumeric pattern directly or indirectly references controlled substances.
- The alphanumeric pattern directly represents law enforcement or other governmental entities.
- The alphanumeric pattern misleads law enforcement.
The 2023 data showed different license plates that did not follow the guidelines, including other well-known license plates such as the reference and spelling of "1BOOBE," "B1TCHES" and "P155*0FF."
