Harris appointed Missouri City police chief

In a specially called meeting on January 8, the Missouri City City Council selected Brandon Harris aa the city's permanent police chief. Harris, who has served in the department full-time for nearly three decades, had been acting as interim police chief since former chief Mike Berezin resigned in May 2023 after 34 years with the department.

According to his city profile page, Harris with the Missouri City Police Department as a reserve police officer in 1995 before being hired as a full-time officer in June 1996.

Harris was first promoted to corporal in 1998, has been a supervisor in every division.

Harris has been a member of several specialized police units, including a Field Training Officer, an Advanced Accident Reconstructionist, and the Honor Guard Commander. He graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy and the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas.

Harris is a member of several law enforcement organizations, including the FBI National Academy Associates, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Texas Police Chief's Association. He is also a member of the Fort Bend Independent School District's Safety and Security committee.

Harris and his wife, Tracy, have been married for 32 years and have two adult sons.
