List of national chains coming to Portland grows as work on Target store progresses

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — 3NEWS first told you in December about the new Brake Check and Raising Cane’s locations coming to Portland, along with a new Target.

Now, even more retailers have been added to that growing list.

They include Chipotle, James Avery, Aspen Dental, Five Guys, and Wells Fargo, to name a few.

Developer McLeod Cobb Investments said it is seeing a strong demand from national brands to be part of its $100-million, 45-acre project.

Wednesday, work was moving right along on the 128,000 sq. ft. Target store, which is slated to hold its grand opening in late summer.

“We are lucky to have aerial photography to see it as it progresses,” said Meredith McLeod-Cobb. “It's going well, and Target is slated to open late summer. When we are fully built out, there will probably be 25-30 tenants or so."

Also slated to open is a Jack in the Box.

"It's a very exciting development for the community,” said city manager Randy Wright. “We are always looking for amenities for our residents. There's a lot of interest nationally for national brands to come to Portland, and we are starting to see that more and more now."

McLeod-Cobb is planning to break ground on a freestanding retail building in the coming weeks.
