Jerod Anderson, Director of Enterprise Solutions for the City of Coppell, recently announced his retirement from the city effective Feb. 2, 2024.

Anderson served the city for 25 years and began his career in Coppell as a summer camp counselor for the parks and recreation department (now known as Coppell Community Experiences) in May 1998 while he attended school at West Texas A&M. He worked in the procurement department, first as an intern in 1999, to technician, then purchasing manager in 2004 while finishing his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD).

According to the City of Coppell, while working in the procurement department, Anderson served in several different roles and projects with different departments and vendors, which helped him hone his skills in business process improvement, database management and networking.

In the early 2000s, Anderson was responsible for securing contracts with cell phone providers and establishing a system for issuing and maintaining all city employee cell phones. Anderson also led the way with the city’s copier rental program, which is still in use today, according to the city. The program swapped city-owned copiers and printers on every desk for leased multifunction copiers in central locations, reducing the number of machines, maintenance workload, and overall cost.

“Coppell is in the business of doing things differently and making municipal government better,” Anderson said in a press release. “Being in purchasing provided a good insight into how each department operated, highlighting where things could be streamlined to add value without increasing costs.”

In 2012, Anderson became the interim information technology director, the assistant chief information office in 2013, and later, the interim director for the department before becoming the director of enterprise solutions in 2018. While working, he also completed a master’s degree in public affairs from UTD.

"Jerod is an innovator and a creative thinker who provided a number of smart solutions for the organization and the community over the years,” said City Manager Mike Land in a press release. “He is also a galvanizer, providing a tremendous amount of energy to the team. We're grateful for his dedicated service and wish him the best of luck in his next endeavor."

Upon retirement from the city, Anderson is looking forward to spending time with his 14-year-old daughter and sailing on a catamaran in St. Vincent before continuing his career in public service at a new position with Tyler Technologies.

“It’s going to be difficult to leave this team,” Anderson said in a press release. “Coppell and its leadership team are phenomenal, and I’m very grateful for all of the things I’ve been able to do in my career here.”

The current Assistant Director of Enterprise Solutions, Josh Littrell, has been selected to serve as the interim director for the department when Anderson leaves.
