Laredo City Council to discuss future of Laredo Planning and Zoning Director

LAREDO, Tx. (KGNS) - It’s been over a month since City of Laredo leaders last met and with a new year, means new business including appointing new members to new committees as well as approving ordinances.

Many of the items include approving projects for updates to city streets or parks.

Other items include funding for both the Laredo Police and Laredo Fire Department as well as how the city is handling the migrant crisis.

Another item city leaders will look into is the future of the planning and zoning director Orlando Navarro.

Navarro held his position as a director on July 1, 2021 after former planning director James Kirby Snideman resigned from the position due to personal family matters.

Navarro is a Laredoan with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from TAMIU.

Navarro served as a planning and zoning commission member for eight years. Prior to his role as a director for the department. The item was brought forward by Laredo City Manager Joseph Neeb.

As mentioned, the council is still discussing this topic among several others here in downtown Laredo.
