Reflections on the Journey
"Transition Edge" has been more than just a series of articles; we hope that it has been a journey of discovery and growth for us all.
Beginning in April of 2020, we have delved into topics ranging from personal development and collective responsibility to a variety of perspectives around change, the evolving world and the impact us humans and our activities are having on nature.
We have travelled together through interesting times too.
- Covid and its global impacts
- The 'Post truth' era in NZ Government
- Onset of wars in Europe and the Middle East
- Emergence of mainstream
Artificial Intelligence
- Catastrophic weather events in New Zealand and around the world
For many of us, exploring the
complexities of transitioning to a low carbon, lower energy and long-term sustainable world has become an opportunity to learn, develop and change along the way. For others it has just been an opportunity to sit back and do nothing.
We may not have agreed with each perspective, but agreement was never the objective. Our hope was that each and every one might have raised a question, clarified a point of contention or sparked an idea that might help in our collective transition.
The Pain and Difficulty of Concluding
Moving on from the "Transition Edge" in its current format, is
not a choice made lightly. It is a decision imbued with the pain of parting and the difficulty of letting go of something that has been a significant effort and part of our weekly routines.
Standing for what could or should be a better future world, while paddling against the tide of business as usual has been a tough gig. It has been a fight that we are proud to have been writing about for almost 4 years and we sincerely thank those of you that have supported the effort.
As we have espoused along the way, change is an essential aspect of development. It is with this spirit that we embrace the end of one chapter and the anticipation of what lies ahead. Midnight always arrives.
