CAGP’s 30th Annual National Conference on Strategic Philanthropy will now take place Wednesday, April 3rd to Friday, April 5th, 2024. The location of the Westin Ottawa remains unchanged. 

We want to be fully transparent with the reason for this change: we messed up! It was brought to our attention that the previous Conference dates, April 24th-25th conflict with Passover. As a major Jewish holiday, this would present a significant barrier to delegates who participate in Passover observances, particularly during its first important days.
 

We were very pleased that our Conference venue was able to support us in changing the dates. 

We do recognize these new dates mean that the Conference will now take place during the holy month of Ramadan. We have ensured there is no overlap with the special night Laylat al-Qadr, or with Eid al-Fitr. We are committed to ensuring accommodations are available as needed to support Muslim delegates in observing Ramadan. 

We recognize these errors and decisions in the context of inclusion and are mindful of the commitment we recently made in a public statement on another matter: When we make mistakes or an issue of this nature is brought to our attention, we promise to trust those who were harmed, take ownership and action towards meaningful change, and offer a pathway to healing.

We are grateful to those who brought these issues to our attention, and humbly offer our apologies to anyone disrespected through this oversight. We hope that our action and apology will be viewed as steps towards reparation. 

As with many organizations, CAGP is a ‘work in progress’ when it comes to intersectional considerations. We remain committed to our path of continued learning, greater self-awareness, building our cultural competency, and doing so to achieve greater diversity and inclusion. We do this with a goal of a more just and equitable future. With your continued support, we will get there.
