The CAGP National Conference Program Committee invites you to participate in CAGP's 31st National Conference on Strategic Philanthropy, taking place in Edmonton, Alberta, from April 9 - 11, 2025.
CAGP is actively seeking speakers from all backgrounds to present at our upcoming conference. In our effort to strengthen diversity, CAGP will treat this call for proposals as an opportunity to amplify diverse voices, share experiences, promote awareness and create a more inclusive sector.
To help ensure our delegates can benefit from the widest array of speakers and expertise, we recognize that speaker compensation is an important consideration. This year, we are pleased to offer an optional speaker fee to those who wish to present at the CAGP Conference and need financial support to do so.
We are pleased to welcome 59 new partners to the campaign this year, as well as all of our many returning partners, some who have been with us
since inception.
These charities, financial, and legal professionals are opening Canadians' eyes to a new form of giving; they are increasing the "philanthropic pie" and deserve a big shout out for their leadership in changing the face of gifts in Wills in Canada!
Will Power registration is now closed. If you'd like to find out more about becoming a partner, and add your name to the waitlist for the 2025/26 campaign, you can do so on this link.

Bequest Administration Essentials
Gifts from Estates are an increasingly important source of revenue for charities – and also subject to far more stringent legal and financial oversight than gifts from a living individual. Is your charity receiving gifts from Estates? From acceptance & acknowledgment to account review, releases and receipting, this course will cover how to manage your program and stay on the right side of the law & tax rules. We’ll also delve into how to handle delicate conversations with
executors, lawyers, family, loved ones, and the important role of recognition for these special gifts, as well as explore future trends and emerging issues like the growing source of bequests from donor advised foundations.

Jill Nelson, 'Friend of CAGP', a past Board Member of CAGP and a current Board Member of the CAGP Foundation, as well as one of our
most trusted educators, recently retired after a long and distinguished career in fundraising. As a parting gift to her, friends and colleagues created a bursary fund
for this course. If you need financial support to complete this course, please apply here.
We all know that change is inevitable, and sadly we share that Paul Nazareth will be wrapping up his time at CAGP in mid-July. To say we share
that news with mixed emotions is an understatement. We applaud and support Paul in making a decision to prioritize his personal interests and well-being through a different path.
In the coming months we will be considering how best fill this position in order to achieve our organizational and strategic objectives related to education, as well as important partnerships and alignments. In the meantime, CAGP’s work will continue with minimal disruption through our dedicated, passionate and talented staff team, as well as a slew of highly skilled and knowledgeable volunteers who have an unparalleled commitment to our organization. At the same time, this will be a loss for
our organization, and we will all miss Paul’s infectious passion for CAGP, for our mission, and for generosity as a way of life.
If you have any thoughts, questions or concerns, Ruth's “door” is always open. ([email protected]). Please stay connected as to next steps, and how we can celebrate Paul’s contribution to our organization and our movement.
We extend our deep gratitude to our outgoing Board Members; Heather Powers, Carmela Guerriero, and Laily Pirbhai. Thank you for your service to CAGP during your time
on the Board.
With the outgoing, comes the incoming! We are delighted to welcome Christine Kang of SickKids Foundation in Toronto, Claude Lestage, a philanthropic consultant based
in Quebec City, and Véronique Salibur of the CHUM Foundation in Montreal.

Historically, Pride gatherings emerged from the first large-scale protests for 2SLGBTQI+ rights.
In Canada, the first demonstrations took place in Ottawa and Vancouver in 1971. By 1973, Pride events were held in several Canadian cities, including Montréal, Ottawa, Saskatoon, Toronto, Vancouver and Winnipeg. Toronto's Pride weekend in June is now among the largest Pride events in North America.
Happy Pride Season!
June is also National Indigenous History Month. Take a moment to reflect on the history, languages, cultures, and
