If your pet is bitten, show this to your vet!
Good morning and welcome to another exciting week in the world of probiotics 🙂
This Week was National Dog Bite Prevention Week 🐶
Prevention is always better than
cure! But if your dog or cat does suffer a bite, why not show this to your vet?
LUCAA+ Probiotic Pet Dermo Care (previously called Wound Care) is best known as a pet first aid kit staple. You can safely use it at home to cleanse and promote healthy healing of minor wounds, scratches, and hot spots.
However, forward-thinking vet, Dr Richard Doyle, took things a step further at his practice, Wylie Vets. He used LUCAA+ Probiotic Pet Dermo Care (previously called Wound Care) to facilitate healthy recovery and reduce antibiotic use for a dog and cat with multiple contaminated bites. You can read his case study here.
Here's a quick rundown of the top 5 reasons why LUCAA+ Dermo Care Spray promotes healthy, faster healing of pet bite wounds:
1️⃣ Probiotic Power: harnesses the power of probiotics, beneficial ‘good’ bacteria that naturally occur in plants. These probiotics help to restore balance to your pet’s skin microbiome, creating an environment that
supports healing and fights off harmful bacteria.
2️⃣ Effective Cleansing: cleanses the bite wound and helps to remove dirt, debris, and harmful bacteria that can lead to infection. Its gentle yet powerful formula ensures thorough cleaning without
causing further irritation to the wound.
4️⃣ Targets Hidden Harmful Bacteria: Dog and cat bite wounds can be tricky to clean thoroughly, as much of the damage may be hidden beneath the skin's surface. LUCAA+ Dermo Care Spray penetrates deep into the wound, targeting hidden bacteria and helping to prevent potential complications developing.
5️⃣ Safe and Natural: LUCAA+ Dermo Care Spray has naturally sourced ingredients. It contains no harsh chemicals or antibiotics, making it gentle while still providing powerful benefits. Most importantly, it doesn’t leave the area without a protective natural microbiome and open to colonisation by opportunistic
pathogens.
Overall, LUCAA+
Dermo Care Spray offers a holistic approach to wound care, addressing the root causes of infection and supporting your pet’s natural healing processes.
Dr Doyle says: “Bite wounds are regarded with great caution by vets as they are always assumed to be infected with bacteria from the mouth of the attacker and tissue bruising/damage associated with such injuries can result in severe, deep-seated tissue infections, which can develop into septicaemia (life-threatening infection of the blood). The normal treatment approach is to excise as much damaged tissue as possible and then cover with broad-spectrum antibiotics to
combat deep-seated infection and sepsis.
Whilst antibiotics are effective against most pathogens, they also disrupt the normal bacterial flora of the intestinal tract and skin and so can lead to gastrointestinal upsets and dermatitis, can cause adverse allergic reactions, environmental contamination and over-use can lead to the global problem of antimicrobial
resistance (AMR).
This approach involves creating an active biofilm of commensal (friendly) bacteria at the site of infection and eliminating the pathogenic bacteria by a process of competitive inhibition. This treatment is not damaging to the patient or the environment and does not lead to AMR.”
Dr Doyle also says "if you have concerns, contact your vet".
