The connection between Interior Environment and Sensory Issues

Hi ,
First of all. I just want to say "Thank You" to those who already reserved the 20 minutes FREE VIP Call with me, I learned a lot of things just by talking to you.
I
just want to share my past experiences. In the past, as I shared to you to some of you, I had a lot of difficult challenges when my son first diagnosed with autism. In fact, I just finished pro-bono project designing a school for autism in Palo Alto, California. I got the diagnose from a psychology who told me that my son has autism. I was shocked and thinking myself "Oh gosh, I just do a volunteer job for autism community and this is how I got paid." I was mad and it feels like I was a losing
kite. I need to deal with his tantrum, allergy, 911 situation when I went out. Besides that going to a doctors was a nightmare and got bully was not only happened to my son, but to me too.... I was upset, sad and I swallowed my tear many many times ...
My son was 3.5 years old when he got the diagnose and he used sign language in school for the first few years. Then he started communicate with
icon, exchanged with icon. In school he got speech, occupational therapy and ABA. The social therapy came later on in school. It was not an ideal scenario, but it was a good experience of mainstream environment setting. After went to many seminars, I started to implement what I learned and started implementing different therapies at my own home and I analyzed my son as my client.
I began adapted the
sensory therapy at home since then. I was surprised to see how my son was so happy playing in the area where the sensory interior design allocated. He even running in a circle many times and he was excited, happy and grounded when he did that. I just realized that is what we call with self regulate. He self regulate himself in that selected finished space. I began to study about interior finishes, color, lighting, passive home, five human senses and the brain itself.
Sensory issues for autism can be internal and external. I am still surprise when I got the test result for his sensory assessment at his age, 23 years old.. The result shows that he still have sensory issues. Sensory challenges actually can happen to lots of people. How a hug a day keeps the "Blues" away... \\
Your home is the first place that consider the "nest" for the children. It should becomes the best starting point and solution for the whole family as well. By having the sensory interior design accessible 24 hours at home will give a lot of opportunity for the children to self regulate. By having the access to self regulate, the child becomes less "wild", happy, grounded and easier to manage. The child is ready to go out
and go for another step of the therapy. The parents do not need to think about dealing with tantrum or how to manage the child from running away during the trip to doctors, therapies, groceries and many more.
What do you think about sensory interior design environment? Do you apply any sensory interior approach in your own home for the children benefit?
