Hi
Have you ever considered to create a quiet/calm space in your home for your autistic child? What COLOR do you use? In interior design, we use many COLORS that affect our physical and mental well-being. According to the Psychological Effects of COLOR Theory by Albert O. Halse, blue is both cooling and sedative. It helps concentration and may cause melancholia. Yellow stimulates activity and drawing attention. Green sooths our mood.
At my previous project in Palo Alto, CA, our design team using color and pattern for autistic classroom with three COLORS above i.e blue, yellow and green. After the remodeling, the teacher was delighted and amazed to see the changes of the students' behavior. He quoted " I am so happy that the students are motivated to go to school now, they are happy, focus and they are less supervised. They are more focus and they are happy to go to school now. " Wow ... It is really amazing, right. Simple color and design can change the
atmosphere and behavior of the students. Not only the students were happy, but the teacher was also happy to do his job. The students had a better attitude and it was easier for the teacher to teach them when they were in the right mood.
Are you interested to apply this color principal and create a quiet space for your autistic child? A quiet space in the playroom, bedroom or study room
where the child can be quiet, have their own time, self-regulate and enjoy their time at home. Not only that the parents and the rest of family indeed benefit when the child is calm anad happy. It is a perfect solution that all can do at home. A space for the autistic child that can accessible 24 hours accessible in his/her own home.
