Hello ,
This photo of my daughter Erin and me makes me so happy, I might have to leave it as my newsletter photo.
When the kids grow up, it's both gratifying and devastating to see them off creating their lives, often far from where the parents live. Don and I enjoy our life in Virginia, but we miss our kids! We don't see them often enough. If you have adult children, how often do you see them?
Time For A Pause
Don and I are taking a break for a couple weeks to go learn something new. We're trying to get our old brains to be better at Spanish so we are attending a Spanish immersion school.
(Holá, Isabel. ?Como estás?...in high school everyone learned the first Spanish lesson, whether we were taking the class or not. I was not. But I can still recite much of it.)
I will continue to send you a newsletter with a highlighted recipe or two each week, though.

What Will You Eat for Luck?
Some people eat sauerkraut and others eat black-eyed peas on New Year's Day to ring in the year with good luck. We usually have one on New Year's Eve and the other on New Year's Day just to cover all our bases. ;-)
But since January 1 starts the special month "Veganuary" to encourage eating more plant-based meals, I'm including my Black-Eyed Peas & Kale recipe this week. It's one of my favorites. Scroll down to see the photo.
Happy New Year!
One of the connections I truly value is you, dear reader, because you stick by me and keep reading and responding to my messages. Thank you!
Until next week...
Be happy,
Lois
