Out of the Mist
In nature when the mist clears, we often see a verdant landscape. The greens are more brilliant. In fact, all the colors are brighter. And we see every detail we couldn't see before.
When I have a decision to make and God gives me a miserable, foggy or rainy day, I use it to rejuvenate my soul and clear my brain, while I subconsciously noodle new ideas. My mind slows and refuses to work. I feel sleepy or sometimes depressed.
What do I do on these days? And how does it help?
What I Do
I read a book, watch a movie, take a nap, talk to a friend, bake some cookies, visit an art gallery or antique store, or work on a creative, beautiful needlework project. I journal and sometimes simply wallow.
Do you know wallowing can be good for a short period of time?

Hola from Costa Rica !
On Saturday Jeannette, the woman who hosted us in her home for two weeks during our Spanish immersion experience in Heredia, Costa Rica, came to dinner at our rented home. We had a lot of fun catching up, eating grilled chicken and Picadillo de Chayote (my favorite recipe I learned from Jeannette).
Another day a man named Luis showed up at my door with a truck full of fruits and vegetables. Wonderful, fresh produce that I didn't have to go anywhere to buy. He was a small businessman selling produce door-to-door. The fruits and veggies were high quality and reasonably priced, too! It was a win-win situation. He helped us and we helped him.
What Can You Do To Help
Today?
If you are friends with small business owners, independent contractors, graphic designers, artists, restaurant owners, or authors—basically anyone who depends on others to buy their goods and services—help them!
Your friends and local businesses need your support.
Buy from them. Tell your friends about them. Share their social media posts and add an encouraging comment in the comment section of their posts. Or post an online review. Write your own social media post about how wonderful they are.
What you do or don't do really matters.
Do you know that Facebook, Instagram, and all the other social media platforms only show you the posts from people and businesses you engage with? (Or their competitors!) If you don't comment or share, you most likely won't see their posts anymore. And your friends'
friends won't see them either.
Pretty soon, those businesses will be out of business.
So if you want to keep all those companies and freelancers in business, share their posts, tell your friends about them, buy their products, use their services. Write reviews of their books or products and post them online. Write up a testimonial they can use on their
website and send it to them.
Take five minutes and help a friend today. May those blessings return to you one-hundred-fold.
Grateful for You
I truly value you, dear reader, because you stick by me and keep reading and responding to my messages. Thank you!
Until next week...
Be happy,
Lois

Recipe Reprise:
Gluten Free French Bread
Today is National French Bread Day. I love, love, love French Bread. Don't you? But I cannot eat gluten. (Boo!)
Over the years I have experimented with homemade gluten-free bread, and I'm happy to say, have developed some amazing recipes. And the cool thing is, they are singe-rise recipes. No kneading, punching down, kneading again. In fact, you whip them up with your Kitchenaide stand mixer.
The batter is much like cake batter, but the bread actually tastes like BREAD. You're gonna love me for this one. Whip up a batch of Gluten Free French Bread and enjoy! Click on photo for the recipe.
