Mothers' Day is this weekend, which makes me think of my mom (obviously) but also my mother-in-law (both of whom have passed). When I first met my husband I was told that I needed to learn how to make "holiday bread". (I'm sure there is a name for it, she just didn't know of an actual name.) This was a
recipe she learned in home economics in high school in the early 60s and made for every holiday... Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc... every time the family got together there was always "holiday bread" warm out of the oven. Now I make it for our holidays and even my daughter who does NOT cook, makes it. It brings back so many memories... and it's yummy!

Here is the recipe she gave me in her own handwriting. Â It's become a much beloved family
tradition.Â
