experiences and explore common interests and goals.

The 20 non-profit organizations that will benefit from a campaign to collect donations through the SINFINESPR.org portal have been officially announced by the Titín Foundation. The organizations are mostly focused on social wellbeing, health, education, art, and others. The project, called CUENTAx2, will be accompanied by a matching fund of up to $5,000for each entity per part of the Titín
Foundation.
¡Todos a leer!, an ambitious effort that looks to strengthen reading skills for children from kindergarten through the third grade was officially presented by Fundación Flamboyán and the Coalición Multisectorial para la Lectura. This initiative presents guidelines to tackle academic challenges that have impacted students through the years and have increased due to natural disasters and the pandemic.

In their efforts to encourage female students in Puerto Rico to pursue a future in STEM careers, Liberty Foundation and Society of Women Coders celebrated the achievements of the NextGen Tech Scholars Program’s first class. Over 50 participants were recruited by Eco Exploratorio: Science Museum of Puerto Rico, who completed the 20-week program and received their certificates during a special graduation ceremony.

In an effort to bring funders who have been close allies to Puerto Rico’s social justice movements for the past 5 years, and in the wake of the fifth anniversary of
Hurricane María’s passing, Open Society Foundations will hold aroundtable discussionto share reflections on the growth and strength of social justice funding on the archipelago, and to begin to think strategically about the road ahead.
The event will be held on Friday September 23 at OSF’s offices in New York City.
Community-based and academic entities in Puerto Rico received a total of $300,000 in grants from the AMGEN Foundation as part of their social commitment to promote accessible STEM education. All the money
was distributed through their community grants program.
Some of the organizations that benefitted were: Alianza para un Puerto Rico sin Drogas, Ciencia Puerto Rico, Centros Sor Isolina Ferré, EcoExploratorio, Inc., Fundación Comunitaria de Puerto Rico, Hogar Ruth, Universidad de Puerto Rico Recinto de Mayagüez – Amgen BioTalents, Universidad de Puerto Rico
Recinto de Humacao – Amgen Biotech Experience, among others.

A total of $25,000 was awarded to The Ana G. Méndez University’s (UAGM) Carolina Campus byThe JetBlue Grants Foundationfor its“Increasing Latinos in Aviation Careers” (ILAC) proposal, which seeks to stimulate interest in
aviation to increase the number of minority groups entering the airline industry as professional pilots.
First Bank donated a total of $35,700 for the Hospital Oncológico Dr. Isaac González Martínez as part of its support to fight against cancer in Puerto Rico. The donation was made in collaboration with Raymond Arrieta and the 14th edition of the “Da Vida” walk, where FistBank have been sponsors for three consecutive years.
