Insane In The Membrane

A few years ago, Tim and I got to participate at one of the most ground breaking and least well-known trainings / events ever.  It was in Austin, TX and it was called Voice & Exit.

We got to spend quality time with some highly interesting individuals such as the founder of Whole Foods, who threatened to give a speech with his shirt off, the creator of The Utopia Experiment who ended up in a psychiatric facility for a little while, shortly after the abrupt conclusion of his experiment, and the author of the internationally acclaimed book "The Obstacle Is the Way: The Timeless Art of Turning Trials into Triumph", to name a few.

Among these individuals was Dr. Jack Kruse, a certainly eccentric, controversial, and definitely brilliant neurosurgeon.  Tim got to have supper with him, a fact that I will forever be envious of.  :-)

Dr. Jack Kruse has dedicated his whole career researching how our modern lifestyle influences our energy powerhouses (mitochondria), our divine shakti in ayurvedic terms.  Even though Jack Kruse often comes across like a conceited a**h***, a fact that Tim can certainly attest to, his research has undeniably influenced the lives of millions of people.

If you cut through all his scientific jargon, and his wicked wild blogs, his message is simple. Why are leaky gut and / or skin breakouts considered the first signs of disease?

The cells of both organs (gut and skin) turn over in 2-3 days in a normal person. In someone with deficient mitochondrial function, the cell signaling is altered which means the cell timing is off,  so the organs do not turn over all their cells as they are supposed to.  This causes increased permeability and activation of the immune system which manifests as leaky gut and / or acne, eczema, psoriasis.

Why have Parkinson's and Alzheimer's been historically diseases of the elderly?

Cells in the brain are some of the slowest dividing cells, so the effect there will typically take "decades" to show up. This is why Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease and even brain and spinal cord tumors are now being expressed half a century after the first wave of our modern lifestyle influences on our diet, technology-overloaded daily environment, etc.

The moral of the story?

Mind your mitochondria! Feed them electrons! Hydrate, work-out, eat an anti-inflammatory diet, and most importantly, get out in nature!

Until next time...   Happy Full Moon and Stay Insane In The Membrane!

Much much love from both of us!

Na’maste Kala! (Which in Greek means, may we all be well!)
