Is It Time For Ayurveda?

Published: Tue, 01/05/21

Have you ever been involved in a conversation or a situation that left you feeling that it was nothing more than a complete and utter waste of your time?

How did that realization make you feel? It was probably very disheartening, in more ways than one. The more you thought about it, the worst it made you feel.

But at the end, what probably disappointed you the most was that you allowed it to happen. And rightfully so. You unwillingly allowed your time to be taken away from you. You disrespected your own time.

It turns out that according to Ayurveda, time is our most valuable possession; It is not our health, it is not our mind, it is not even our relationships.

We can work on improving our health, we can work on improving the state of our mind, we can cultivate more fulfilling relationships. But our time, it's gone forever, we will never get it back. Whatever we did with it, that's it, it's done.

Where does this take us then? Ayurveda has the answer: Ayurveda says establish a routine, a daily routine. Break it down in hour by hour, if need be. This way you allocate your own value to your own time. It does not mean that you cannot deviate from it on occasion. What it means is that you do it consciously, with full awareness. You decide what you do with your time because you know the value it has for you.
