Fenney Brook – 2.40 Ludlow – 2m 5F Handicap Hurdle – 25/1 Ladbrokes, Coral, Bet365 (Best Priced 33) – BOG – 4 Places – 1 Point Each way
Fenney Brook is another who is lightly raced, and whilst his maidens were modest with a postmark high of just 70, his best form was his second run over 2 miles where he was staying on at the last running into a clear third only to fall.
That last run has not attributed a rating but based upon the horses around him he would have postmarked around the 85 mark. With him running off a rating of 79 today, we can see he is well enough handicapped to win
Those runs were last year, and he recently returned to action for his handicap debut, but he wasn’t competitive. This looked like a pipe opener as he as tracked wide and in rear the whole way round and was tenderly handled in the home straight.
He should come on for the run and Henry Daly is showing intent by bringing in his top strike jockey, Tom O’Brien who has a 32% strike rate on Daly horses at Ludlow (5 wins from 19 rides).
Fenney Brook will need to take a step forward but has bags of potential improvement and at 25/1 he rates a good value bet. I, therefore, recommend 1 point each way.
We won with the favourite last time out, The Wild Wild Seas, and he has a strong chance of following up, and whilst I’m not officially advising a reverse forecast, I certainly wouldn’t put you off!!
He is still value at 16/1.
