I'd like to say it's because I'm so productive, but that's not necessarily the case...
I lived a "performance-based" lifestyle for FAR longer that I should have.
👉RARELY resting.
👉ALWAYS demanding more of myself.
👉EVER a student of the “put others first” mindset.
I think that most of us enter the workforce (or marriage or entrepreneurship or any relationship outside ourselves) with boundless optimism and energy. And we give it 110%!
We say to ourselves....
"I'll NEVER become the sarcastic, aloof, dismissive type like ____________."
But, when push comes to shove — it seems like it happens to nearly all of us, to one degree or another whether we care to admit it or not.
BURNOUT hits. Occasional burnout is normal, but when the signs of personal or professional burnout get so embedded in your life that you experience significant ongoing mental, physical or emotional distress, THINGS MUST CHANGE.
What's needed?
I call it Perpetual Transformation!
Shifting into a sincere space of calm and reflection!
When I finally recognized that my own patterns of thought and actions were keeping me in a state of perpetual stress, THINGS CHANGED.
Not overnight, of course, because success is a journey.
I started recognizing the "fixed mindsets" in myself.
My performance-based lifestyle was being challenged in a good way!
My passion started to breathe again!
My creativity BLOOMED again and again!
My health dramatically improved!
Perpetual Transformation in action!
I no longer tell myself...
"I've always been that way."
"It's how I was raised."
"I can't afford that."
"I don't have enough time."
"I wish I could, but..."
"I can't change."
"It won't work for me."
There are many factors (culture, parents, religion, past experiences) that make us who we are right now, but who we want to be going forward is our responsibility.
If you want to really put a dent in things and give it your best shot, never stop trying. If you keep trying, whatever you strive for becomes possible; it’s inevitable.
Let me know if I can help.
Blessings,
