I’m curious, have you ever journaled your thoughts, feelings, and experiences and found it seemed to make things worse?
It became a personal pity party, wallowing in the negative things that have been happening TO you?
I’ve experienced this myself many times over the years. Writing down all the things my
ex-spouse did that hurt me and documenting the many situations at school that seemed unfair and were draining the life out of me.
It was more of a vehicle of blame instead of solutions. I was living too much in my head.
Journaling can have a negative effect on our behavior and be isolating if we view things a happening TO us rather than AROUND us.
This type of thinking doesn't lead to a
👉🏼greater understanding of yourself (personal growth) and
👉🏼behavior change in your interactions with others (social growth).
Shared journaling is an opportunity to accomplish both!
- It transforms potentially lonesome writing into an enjoyable, openhearted, liberating experience.
- Shared journaling perpetuates entertaining and soulful dialog between participants.
- It can help reinvigorate and transform your connections with each other.
- Shared
journaling opens the door to communal support.
- We become vulnerable and courageous. This courage becomes contagious and helps others seek change for the
better.
