So this month, we just wanted to share a short video of our breeding room so you can see what's going on inside there. A lot of experimentation, but some exciting aromas are peaking our interest.
We still don't have any timeline for releasing our own strains yet, as we are currently just playing with crossing strains by other breeders.
HOWEVER..... we've got some exciting news.
We just began a pheno hunt of some truly exotic landraces. Check out what we are currently hunting:
- Kashmir Purple (India)
- Iran Shiraz (Iran)
- Aunt of Farouk (Pakistan)
- Pakistan 1975 (Pakistan)
Let's talk about the word exotic for a second. Here is an
exerpt from one of our blog articles:
If we look at the definition of Exotic, we see that it is an adjective meant to describe something “originating in or characteristic of a distant foreign country.” - exerpt
from our article on Platinum Swabi Punch.
In current parlance, growers and consumers use the word "exotic" to basically refer to ultra new strains that have a consistent "glittering" look. And we like those kinds of strains!
But the term actually refers
to something very foreign. And what is more foreign to American stoners than ancient landrace strains from the middle east?!
For our new line of genetics we plan to release in the future (maybe next year), we wanted to incorporate some traditional cannabis genetics from around the world.
We do not want to lose the heritage of international and ancient cannabis, and we believe that we can integrate landrace genetics into our current breeding projects.
Afterall, if you think about the popular genetics of our generation, most of them trace back to the West Coast classics: OG
Kush, Girl Scout Cookies, and the like.
But those famed strains were created by crossing various international landrace strains. OG Kush involved a variety of Afhani genetics, and GSC was created from the famed African sativa, Durban Poison. And those two strains alone are responsible for most of what's popular today.
So stay tuned, because we will be giving you updates all year long on our pheno hunts and breeding projects. We are on the hunt for greatness and when we find it, you will be the first to know and the first to try!
