According to St. Paul, Minnesota's Pioneer Press, a troop of hungry and portly squirrels were to blame for canceling this year's holiday lights display in a downtown park. The sponsor of the light show acted a little squirrely when asked to pay for this year's festivities.
The sponsor refused to move forward with the show, blaming our beloved squizettes', otherwise known as squirrels, gnawing habits. Clearly, the people at City Hall need to brush up on their squirrel dietary knowledge.
The wires, it turns out, were coated with sweet-tasting polylactic acid, made from either corn or sugar cane. The squirrels chewed on the wires of the twinkle lights for a lunchtime appetizer.
Lucky for all the birds within a two-mile radius of the park, their feeders were full that day. But can we know for sure if the squirrels were 100% liable for disappointing the whole city of St. Paul? I'll need to see some hard evidence!
