Dear Squirrel Friends,
Dawn breaks like any other day in my world. The rising sun casts golden hues over my balcony home at Kitty City Squirrels. Breakfast is usually a scatter of delicious morsels that the kind Laaaaaady leaves for me.
But today, something's different. There's a sense of anticipation in the air. The usual calm morning is awash with colors - ribbons, balloons, and an unusual buzz among the humans. They call it the
Fourth of July, but to me, it's just an unusually bright and busy day.
As the sun starts to retreat, the park below my balcony home changes. People gather, their faces lit with excitement. I watch curiously as they surround the peculiar metal tree in the park. This giant monolith has often intrigued me, but the taste - not as enticing as the oak bark
I'm fond of.
As twilight descends, the excitement intensifies. Suddenly, the metal tree comes alive with a "WHOOSH," sending a cascade of light into the sky. BOOM! A sound that would normally send me scurrying for cover doesn't phase me anymore.
From my high perch on the balcony, the Fourth of July transforms into a dazzling Festival of Lights and Sounds. It's a day when the night sky is ablaze with color, and the city resonates with a rhythmic thunder. It's a spectacle that, from my vantage point, transforms the night into a magical canvas only a squirrel like me could appreciate.
After the grand finale, the humans slowly retreat, leaving behind remnants of their celebration. It's my turn now. I venture out to explore, to discover leftover treats and strange new objects that have found their way onto my balcony. This is my own special Fourth of July celebration, a squirrel's exploration of the unknown.
So, on this day, while you celebrate with light, joy, and perhaps a few dazzling fireworks, remember to consider the unique perspective of your furry friends. Let's celebrate responsibly and ensure our celebrations are safe for all of us - humans and squirrels alike. Happy Fourth of July, everyone!
Stay nuts about squirrels,
