Friendly reminder.. Mixed billing as of today!

A friendly reminder to all patients that Main Street Medical has adopted a mixed billing policy as of today, Friday 1st July 2022.

Our practice policy is that all patients will be charged a fee at each appointment unless qualifying for bulk-billing. Medicare cardholders will have their rebate returned from Medicare.

The following groups will remain bulk-billed: under 16 years, over 65 years, health care cardholders, pension cardholders, DVA cardholders, ATSI.

Please see below our fees for general consultations. We have EFTPOS and cash facilities available.

Please note there has been slight changes since our previous email due to changes to Medicare rebates.

Why don't you bulk-bill anymore?

There are many reasons why we have made this decision, including the following:

- Insufficient Government funding

Unfortunately, Government funding for General Practitioners has failed to keep up with the rising costs of running a medical practice. The Government has only increased fees by $4 over the last 9 years, so it is no longer financially viable to provide a high quality medical service whilst bulk-billing our patients.

- Rising costs

We have experienced rising costs of staff wages, medical supplies, insurances and utilities with very little rise in Government funding. A rise in chronic disease has resulted in patients needing more one-on-one healthcare, whilst salaries and costs of health technology have simultaneously increased.

How do I claim my Medicare rebate?

Our practice is equipped with Medicare EasyClaim. We are able to send your claim to Medicare instantly whilst processing your payment. Medicare will then process your rebate and funds will be deposited into your nominated bank account within 24 hours.
