Speaker: Ed Horwich, Eminent community leader serving UK Jewry
Profile
Ed Horwich is Chief Executive of Jewish Small Communities Network and Project Leader for ’Connecting Small Histories’, a collaboration with Swansea University funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Raised in the bustling and then large Jewish community of Southport, by the time he returned it had diminished to just 8% of it more glorious days. After a life-long career as a photographer, which included time as a business mentor, EU projects director, and
broadcaster, he was sucked into community life, serving on the management and executive of two synagogues. He has been championing Jewish small communities for the greater part of the twenty-first century.

The 100 year journey of two families. Separated by the worlds of Textiles and High Fashion. Crossing continents, they make their separate ways from Crimea and Aleppo in Syria, their lives finally colliding in the unexpected location of the Lancashire Seaside Southport. With photos and film of the time, Ed Horwich takes us back into the world of Aleppo, Cairo, Sebastopol, Chicago, and industrial Manchester. En route touching some
notable Jewish landmarks.
How Come?
Followed by Q&A from you the audience.
