How do we get from Page to TV Screen?
The TV projects that I'm proudest of.
The role of a creative producer.
The most exciting moments in my TV career.
Derek Wax is an award-winning television producer. His current projects include the acclaimed series THE RIG (on Amazon Prime) and the mini-series true crime drama THE SIXTH COMMANDMENT (starring Timothy Spall and Anne Reid) which launched this week on BBC One and iPlayer. It is about the murder
of Peter Farquhar, formerly a teacher at Manchester Grammar School and head of English at Stowe.
Derek now has his own label, Wild Mercury Productions. He has won two BAFTA awards as producer for Best Mini Series: for
SEX TRAFFIC (Channel 4), and for the Iraq war drama OCCUPATION (BBC One), starring James Nesbitt and Stephen Graham. He was also BAFTA nominated for the hit sci-fi drama HUMANS which ran for three seasons on Channel 4, and FLESH AND BLOOD (BBC 2). Other high profile productions include the International Emmy winning drama series CAPITAL, and two seasons of THE HOUR (BBC2), which won an Emmy and was nominated for a Golden Globe. Derek also produced FROM THERE TO HERE (BBC One),
starring Philip Glenister, which explored the aftermath of the IRA bomb in Manchester in 1996.
