Toxic Politics
Rafael Behr
Why is everyone so angry all the time?
Is the internet bringing us together or tearing us apart?
Is democracy failing?
Are we forgetting vital lessons of the 20th Century?
Rafael Behr is the author of Politics, A Survivor's Guide, a highly
acclaimed book about the causes of rage and division that threaten democracy in Britain and elsewhere.
Rafael is an award-winning political columnist for the Guardian. Previously he has worked as political editor for the New Statesman, chief leader writer for the
Observer, as a business reporter for BBC news online and as a foreign correspondent for the Financial Times based in Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union. His work has also been published in the Times, the Sunday Times, the Irish Times, the New York Times and Prospect magazine. He is also a guest commenting on politics for BBC TV and Radio, Sky news and Times Radio.
Before becoming a journalist, Rafael was a political risk analyst covering Eastern Europe. He studied French and Russian at Merton College, Oxford and has a masters in Russian politics from the University of London.
